Ariel Gail

Prof. Gail S. Goodman holds a Honorary Chair in Psychology in the University of California Davis and is also the Director of the Center for Public Policy Research. She is the one who initiated the modern study of children's memory of eyewitnesses and using child victims when in court. Professor Goodman is a prolific writer she has received grants from numerous sources and was awarded many international and national honors. She has provided advice to numerous government agencies and governments across the globe on policies and research relating to the treatment of child victims within the legal system. She serves as a consultant for the Special Assault Forensic Evaluation Center that was formerly known as the Multidisciplinary Interview Center of Sacramento County Child Protective Services. She is a part of many professional organizations including The Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association (Divisions Experimental Psychology Developmental Psychology Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice American Psychology Law Society Psychology of women and trauma stress 56). Professor Goodman is an active participant in the Psychonomics Society Society for Research in Child Development American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (Founding member) International Society for the prevention of child abuse and Neglect as well as the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She has served as director of 3 divisions (Division Society for Policy and Child Development Practice Division and the Society for Child Policy American Psychology Law Society, and Division Developmental Psychology) and one Section (Child Maltreatment) of the American Psychological Association.
